MossKade & Elasto G5

Moss and liverwort are two types of non-vascular plants commonly found in various ecosystems, and while they serve ecological roles in natural environments, they can become problematic in nurseries.

Identifying moss and liverwort
Mosses are small, simple plants with leafy structures that thrive in moist, shaded conditions. Liverworts, on the other hand, are similar but exhibit flattened, ribbon-like structures.

Why control moss and liverwort?
Both moss and liverwort can compete with nursery plants for essential resources, such as water, light and nutrients. Their dense growth can shade and smother young seedlings, inhibiting growth and development.

Furthermore, moss and liverwort can create a less attractive visual appearance for nursery products, affecting marketability. Their presence can also increase disease and pest susceptibility by providing hiding spots for both pathogens and insects.

Managing moss and liverwort
To manage moss and liverwort growers must employ strategies that include:

• Improving drainage
• Ensuring proper air circulation
• Reducing excess moisture and fertiliser

Regular monitoring and prompt intervention are key to preventing these non-vascular plants from becoming a significant problem that adversely affects the quality and productivity of nursery plants.

Control moss and liverwort with MossKade & Elasto G5

How does MossKade work?
MossKade is a coating and contact-acting agent working by physically coating the algae, moss or liverwort. It's applied as a spray to the affected areas and, on contact, inhibits the growth of the target, eventually leading to their decay and removal.

MossKade will also form a protective coating when applied to hard surfaces such as concrete or wood in order to prevent regrowth of algae, moss or liverwort. In most cases results should be seen in a few days.

How does Elasto work with MossKade?
Recent trials combining MossKade with the adjuvant Elasto can significantly enhance its efficacy in combating moss and liverwort infestations. Elasto is an adjuvant that improves spreading, sticking, and overall performance of many plant protection products.

When combined with MossKade, Elasto helps to ensure better coverage and adhesion of the herbicide to the target plants, allowing MossKade to penetrate, spread and stick to the the moss and liverwort more effectively, increasing the speed and thoroughness of control.

Why use Elasto and MossKade?
The synergy between MossKade and Elasto creates a potent solution for nurseries and other applications, offering a more comprehensive and reliable approach to managing these problematic pests.

When combined and applied correctly, you can achieve:

More successful moss and liverwort control
 Healthier nursery plants
 An improved growing environment
